Casa del Chaman is situated in a small community of new villas called El Chaman in
Manuel Antonio. This community is located approximately 50 meters (150 feet)
off of the main road on a well-maintained secondary road (with sidewalks)
from Hotel Mono Azul (The Blue Monkey). Parking is available at the entrance
of the community and is approximately 30 meters from the house, which is the
last one on the right.
This convenient location is only a 5 minute ride into the bustling, little market
town of Quepos, which can also be reached on foot by a scenic, secondary road
in about 20 minutes. Both Manuel Antonio National Park and Public Beach are about
a 10 minute ride away, and can easily be accessed via public bus. The main road of
Manuel Antonio is windy and steep, and does not offer safe shoulders for walking.
Walking to the beach is possible in about 45 minutes, but not advisable.
Public buses run every half hour to the beach and then back to Quepos, cost
about .25 cents and can be boarded at a bus stop that is a 5 minute walk from
Casa Del Chaman.
From our location it is also very easy to arrange pick up for tours and other
local activities. If you are traveling without a car, the easy access to buses
and taxis makes it a breeze to get around both Quepos and Manuel Antonio.
We are also walking distance to a new, two-story retail complex called Plaza Yara,
which hosts two restaurants, a variety of beach shops, gift shops, internet
access and art galleries. There are also four additional restaurants within
close walking distance from the house. If you are arriving by plane into Quepos,
the airport is approximately 20 minutes away. The main bus terminal for buses
arriving and departing to and from San Jose is in downtown Quepos, about 10 minutes away.
When you fly into San Jose be sure to stay with our friends at
the Dragon Fly Inn
It is charming, affordable, clean and close to the airport.
Dawn and Michael will make your stay comfortable and send you on
your way to Manual Antonio in good spirits.
If you come
from San José, the easiest, paved route is to follow Avenida
10 to Parque La Sabana where it becomes highway 27 which you will
follow west for 34 miles (56 km) to the town of Orotina. 3 miles
(5 km) past Orotina, turn left (south) on 34, the coastal highway
which takes you 11 miles (18 km) to the bridge over the Tárcoles
River where you enter Carara National Park. Quepos is 54 miles
(87 km) south and east on 34.
